What is Fibromyalgia and how can we support each other?

September 17, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

Over the past few months, there has been a steady increase of referrals to the WF Social Prescribers from those who have been diagnosed/living with Fibromyalgia so a virtual session has been organised to bring together those who are knowledgeable about this condition as well as those who have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The aim of the session is to explore how you can support each other and what opportunities are available to do this for those living with Fibromyalgia. Dr Naomi Law, Clinical Psychologist at Whipps Cross Hospital has agreed to do a presentation at this session.

Waltham Forest women’s Network is a small community organisation based in Waltham Forest for over 15 years. WFWN has been organising women only events to bring women together and support each other through empowerment and building networks. Their vision is to empower women to lead healthy and happy lives.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue which ranges from feeling tired, to the exhaustion of a flu-like illness. It may come and go and people can suddenly feel drained of all energy. Fibromyalgia is not new, but is difficult to diagnose. It is as common as rheumatoid arthritis and can even be more painful.
