Volunteers play a vital role in helping people have their say in health and social care. Volunteering with Healthwatch Waltham Forest can help you develop skills, gain experience and make a difference in your community.

Why volunteer with us?

We believe that everyone is unique and has something valuable to contribute, from sharing life experiences, skills, and knowledge, to untapped talent and the willingness to make a real difference in society. You do not need any qualifications to volunteer with us. Just a willingness to listen and talk to a range of individuals, an open mind, and a desire to raise the voice of local people.

 Volunteering provides many benefits:

  • It is a chance to gain new skills and boost your CV.
  • It is an opportunity to meet new people, make friends and develop communication and interpersonal skills.
  • It can be an opportunity for networking at community events and finding out about future opportunities.
  • If you have worked or volunteered in health and social care, it can be a chance to share your experience and knowledge.
  • If you have not been in a professional setting for a while, volunteering can be a great way to develop confidence in this area.
  • As a volunteer, you will be well placed to find out about changes and updates to health and social care services in Waltham Forest and the projects we are working on. In addition to this, you will be able to have your say and share your views.
  • You will be making a difference by helping shape and improve services and influence change.

Current volunteering Opportunities

Community Influencer

We are looking for local people who can give feedback on the health and social care services they use, act as a voice to talk about community views on services and who can help come up with suggestions on how the health and wellbeing of the community could be improved.  Further details are on this page. Please complete the survey that is linked on that page, not the form below.

Community Outreach and Engagement Volunteer

As an outreach and engagement volunteer, you will help us to engage with members of the public in a professional manner, capture patient and public stories and involve members of the public in current Healthwatch Waltham Forest projects. This role is ideal if you like talking and interacting with people, are passionate about the voice of the local communities, and believe in equality.

Enter & View Volunteer

Healthwatch services have a statutory function to carry out Enter & View visits to health and care services to review services at the point of delivery. This involves visiting with a team of representatives to observe the service, view the premises and talk to staff, patients/residents, carers, and relatives. Visits involve using all the senses and going through questions and surveys. Enter & View visits take place at a range of services such as hospital wards, community clinics, care homes, support groups, and many other Health and social care service providers.  You will receive full training on how to perform an Enter & View visit.

To register your interest, please fill out the form below and someone from our team will be in touch with you.
