Fewer people miss hospital appointments
Barts Health NHS Trust have seen a significant fall in the number of people missing appointments since the introduction of the patient portal in April.
Patients missing appointments fell to 9.7% in April from 12.1% in March.
The new portal issues outpatient appointment reminders via text message giving patients better access to their appointment details. The drop in missed appointments is Barts' lowest rate since the pandemic and is a positive sign that new, smarter ways of working are making a difference.
Every missed appointment is a missed opportunity for someone else who needs care. If you can’t attend your appointment, please let the hospital, GP, dentist etc. know as soon as possible. Cancelling or rescheduling your appointment means it can be offered to someone else, helping to reduce waiting times and make the best use of resources.
