Help design a new out of hours non-clinical crisis alternative service

NELFT are looking for people with lived experience of mental health difficulties to be part of a working group to help design and provide ideas for a new (out of hours) non-clinical crisis alternative service in Waltham Forest.

NELFT are looking for people who satisfies the following criteria;

  • Have you accessed (or needed) 'crisis café' services, community drop ins and out of hours services?
  • Have you attended A&E feeling that an alternative service may have been more helpful or appropriate?
  • Do you live, work or care for someone in Waltham Forest, or are registered with a Waltham Forest GP?

If you are interested please email involvement@nelft.nhs.uk with how you meet the above criteria. The closing date is Friday 27th February. They are looking for a maximum of 15 people so it's possible that not all those who are interested will be able to join the group. Group members will be compensated.

The NHS is working with Hestia to use the Mill, at Coppermill Lane in Walthamstow, as an out of hours alternative crisis service.

The service opens on Monday 2nd March 2026. The opening hours are from 5:30pm to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 3pm to 10pm on weekends and bank holidays.

See here for further information

Note, this does not replace or affect other existing services at The Mill, which will continue to operate.
