Spring into Wellness - a free community celebration
Ten years ago, a relatively small number of people in Waltham Forest started working on an idea: that a GP appointment is not always the answer, and that what people sometimes need most is not a prescription but a connection — to their community, to an activity, to a reason to get out of the door on a Thursday morning.
In that decade, link workers have quietly and consistently changed the nature of how health is understood and supported in this borough. They have sat with people in GP waiting rooms and community halls. They have referred people to choirs, allotments, debt advice services and lunch clubs. They have held space for people whose problems could not be solved by a clinical pathway — and they have often been the first person in a long time who simply asked: what matters to you?
The event is on Saturday 28th March, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Leyton Sports Ground Sports Hall, 2 Crawley Road, Leyton, E10 6RJ.
