Appointment of new Chief Executive Officer for the North East London Integrated Care System

November 16, 2021

Following a comprehensive recruitment process, Zina Etheridge has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer Designate of the Integrated Care System (ICS) for north east London.

Zina joins the ICS from the London Borough of Haringey where she has been Chief Executive since February 2017. Her appointment will officially start early in 2022. She brings a wealth of experience of partnership working and improving outcomes for residents from across local government and through senior roles in a number of government departments at a national and regional level.

Zina has also been the lead local authority chief executive for the North Central London ICS and, as chair of London Councils Chief Executives Network, co-ordinated many aspects of the London local government response to Covid-19.

Zina’s arrival coincides with work to formalise the strong history of partnership in north east London, bringing health and care partners together to improve the health of our communities and their experiences of care, and to reduce inequalities. This partnership, known as an Integrated Care System or ICS, sees the NHS, local councils and community groups all working together to provide the care our communities need in an efficient, effective and joined-up way, providing the best experience for our population.

This role will also be responsible for leading the NEL Integrated Care Board which replaces NEL CCG from 1 April 2022. Recruitment to the ICS Chief Executive Officer roles has been led by NHS England and has been taking place over the last few months for ICSs across the country. The appointments to the role in the other London ICSs will be happening over the coming weeks.
