FREE Bikeability Learn to Ride Project – for children who don’t ride

March 21, 2022

RIDE! is a new project run by JoyRiders in Waltham Forest, funded by the Bikeability Trust.

It is well known that people who use active travel are measurably healthier and happier.  Many children – especially girls – miss out on learning to ride. Often because they don’t have access to a bike, or it’s not a traditional rite of passage in their family, or their parents think it’s too dangerous.

RIDE! offers free bikes to borrow and is taught exclusively by National Standard female cycling instructors, all with enhanced DBS. It will be run in central, easy-to-access locations and participation is FREE.

One stream of RIDE is aimed at pre-teen and teenage girls, the second stream is for families. It begins in the April school holidays and registration will open the week commencing 14 March.
