Mental Health Training Opportunity

The North East London Health & Care Partnership has organised a training course in Mental Health First Aid (Adult). The course will be delivered online in four bitesize learning sessions. Upon completion of the course you will become a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

You will learn about a range of mental health issues including: depression, suicidal crisis, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

You will learn how to:
– Recognise the symptoms of mental health issues
– Provide initial help
– Guide a person towards appropriate professional help

How is the course delivered?
The course is delivered across two days (or four bitesize sessions online across four days), and learning takes place across four manageable sessions. Through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions, each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan. Courses are always delivered by experienced instructors. When and where will the courses take place?
– This is an online course delivered through the MHFA England Online Learning Hub
– Learning takes place through four live training sessions, spread across two weeks, with self-learning activities in between
– Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan
– Numbers are limited to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

Who can attend?
The course is open to anybody over the age of 16. No background knowledge of mental health is required. Funded places are available for people who work in the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, City & Hackney, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
