Herts Ability is a charity based in Welwyn Garden City, with outreach centres in Luton, Watford, Harlow and East London including Waltham Forest. help older or disabled people gain, regain, or remain independent. In recent years, the main focus has been on driving. But there are a lot of older or disabled people who cannot drive or choose not to, either permanently or for a short period of time. Operates the Hubs Mobility Advice Service, a ‘one stop shop’ offering advice on all things travel, where using a car is not an option. They complete all the research for the client on how to travel without driving. This could be for daily living, getting to appointments, travelling to social events and generally leading a full, active life. Can also advise on travelling further afield to visit family and friends across the UK and overseas. Offer advice on accessible taxis, community transport, buses, trains, air travel and so much more. As part of this service, they can also offer assessment and advice on mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs. Furthermore, this service is totally free!
