Palliative Care is a star service
My husband died in the Margaret Centre earlier this year. He was supported at home for many months, before this final outcome, by a doctor and a nurse from the Palliative Care Team . Their care for me has been just as kind, compassionate and expert as it was for him. The whole team has been beyond brilliant. Whipps Cross Hospital would have rated a 5 star review here if this service could be maintained at that level 24/7. It faltered for us at the end, not because of any lack of care but simply because it was the weekend and the depth and breadth of support and communication available could not quite be maintained. This lack (and also the transfer from A&E to the Margaret Centre) caused some unnecessary anguish. If Barts could ensure that there is 100% support all the time, they would easily earn that fifth star.
