Whipps Urgent Care Drop-In centre
Knowing the majority of feedback is often negative I thought I would post my positive experience for a change, having had to visit Barts/Whipps Cross Urgent Care walk-in centre today due to the Bank Holiday meaning my GP was closed. Initial registering was a bit convoluted [GO TO A&E FIRST] requiring pre-screening at A&E [hectic] before being accepted at UCC, although there is no mention of this anywhere. Once registered [and in the UCC system] the process was efficient, with basic tests performed within 20 minutes. There was then a longer wait due to some tests having to be processed [~2hrs], before being able to see a doctor/receive treatment. Unfortunately these tests physically take time to process so there is no way around this delay however efficient the team are. This said, from arrival to departure was only 3 hours; I really do not believe this could have been reduced any further. During this waiting time I was able to observe the nature of the medical team; a variety of professionals/nationalities, and how they dealt with a variety of 'customers', some patients more poorly [and so more agitated] than others. In all cases I observed both professional and caring treatment, and felt compelled to write this feedback upon my return home to add 'balance' to the other comments here. I appreciate they get paid/'are only doing their job', but they were seen to be doing it well and showing a level of conscientiousness that is commendable, especially in these times where the NHS is often open to criticism by various 'factions' trying to undermine it. Please feed this back and thank your team for their hard work.
