Accessing the best care for your needs this August bank holiday

August 23, 2022

Local doctors are urging people to think before going to A&E over the August bank holiday weekend after more than 16,700 people went to north east London A&Es over the May and Jubilee bank holidays.

A&E departments and ambulance services are under immense pressure, and attendance at them may not always be required. Many people can be treated safely and comfortably elsewhere, meaning people who need to be seen urgently for life saving treatment can be seen quicker, especially if there thousands of attendances in our A&Es again this coming bank holiday weekend.

The best routes to urgent help include visiting a local pharmacy for advice, booking an out-of-hours appointment with a GP or contacting NHS 111.  People are also reminded to order and collect their urgent prescriptions in advance. All the information on how to seek urgent care is here.
