Did you know you can manage your hospital appointments?

With Winter around the corner, empowering patients to manage their care and reduce missed appointments will have a big impact in reducing pressures on our hospitals.  

Last Winter, nearly 80,000 people didn’t attend their hospital appointment at one of Barts Health’s five hospitals which includes Whipps Cross Hospital.  This can cause people to wait longer for their own appointments and the NHS estimates that every missed appointment costs £30.  

Among the reasons for missed appointments were: 

• Not being able to get through to the service to reschedule or, clarify information received 
• Trouble with access issues i.e. appointment at inconvenient time, concerns about costs 

There are tools to help you manage your appointments.  

Patients Know Best is a web platform and app which provides secure access to your health record via an online portal.  The Royal London Hospital has a webchat function.
