East London Counselling Service

The East London Counselling Service (run by SHP) is a free, community counselling service, based in Leyton, that provides time-limited counselling (up to 12 sessions) to anyone age 18+ living and/or working in the London boroughs of Waltham Forest, Hackney, Newham and Redbridge.

Counselling is provided by counsellors who are either in training or who have recently qualified. Counsellors are majoritively trained in an integrative theoretical approach and they do not provide cognitive behavioural therapy. They are not funded or connected to local authorities or the NHS.

They operate on a first come, first serve basis with a waiting list. At present the waiting list is only around 2-3 weeks (but can and does increase). In terms of making referrals, this is needed to be done by the individual requesting counselling themselves and this can be done using the following website: https://www.shp.org.uk/east-london-counselling-service.
