New midwives to join Barts Health hospitals

More than 70 midwives are set to join the maternity departments of three Barts Health hospitals (the Royal London, Newham and Whipps Cross) in an attempt to beat a national staffing shortage whilst making vital improvements to maternity services. The additional midwives will half the number of vacancies to help address challenges highlighted in an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
