Patient Forum for the LAS meeting about Covid Action – 21st September

September 20, 2022

Joseph Healy speaks about Covid Action from 5.30pm by Zoom.  (This meeting was moved from Monday 19th September.)

Covid Action campaigns for the Government and media to recognise that the Covid Pandemic is not over, and that precautionary public health measures must be taken to slow down community transmission as we go into the autumn and winter. Booster shots for just a section of the population are not enough. Everyone must be entitled to a booster. But vaccines alone are also not enough. We need safe, effectively ventilated, workplaces and schools, free testing, mask wearing on public transport and crowded indoor venues, decent sick pay and enforceable air quality standards.

Mr Healy has been on the Steering Committee of Zero Covid since its inception. He lives with several long-term health conditions and is classed as clinically vulnerable. As a UNITE shop steward he campaigned for health and safety at work during the pandemic. He currently works as a regional officer for UNITE in London. Formerly Joseph was ‘President of the Patient Forum for the LAS. He’s an active LGBTQ campaigner and was until recently Chair of the London regional LGBT committee of UNITE. As well as being an active trade unionist he’s also been involved for several decades in patient and public involvement.
